About Kurashiki Canvas

Kurashiki Canvas has been spinning tradition and weaving innovation since 1888. What sets it apart is a yarn-twisting technique passed down through more than 130 years of craft — multiple strands of 100% cotton are twisted together to create a thread that is both exceptionally strong and remarkably soft. That yarn is then woven on a shuttle loom, a method rarely used today, guided entirely by the experience and instinct of the craftsman.

The finished canvas still meets the original JIS standards — stricter than modern requirements — making it a benchmark of quality in an era when most manufacturers have long since cut corners.
